Kristjana Williams - From Beyond the Valley

Recently, I really love the new fashion pattern design from the Beyond the Valley which designed by Kristjana Williams. The illustration presents the natural creatures to become a high class style. It successfully and gorgeously combine birds and butterflies together. I believe it is a new icon pattern for fashion and illustration industry.

Kristjana Williams - "Co-founder of cult Soho boutique and fashion label Beyond the Valley, CSM graduate Kristjana Williams has an enviable knowledge spanning London’s hippest art, design, fashion and graphics scenes, and a reputation for intuitively spotting the key emerging trends." written by UAL Arts Hotlist interview ( http://newsevents.arts.ac.uk/21851/arts-hotlist-interview-kristjana-williams/ )

Scandinavian Style Fashion

This is the style that I love from Scandinavian design. Clean, simple, fresh and warm. I drew this lady from a book named Scandinavian Style and I named this lady Monique. Because Monique, for me, is an intelligent and modern name just as the feeling of the lady. The original photograph and fashion was designed by Pia Wallen who is a Swedish designer.

Pia Wallen

"Swedish designer PIA WALLEN, like Marimekko, represents an anti-fashion approach that still catches the trends of the moment. Her primary material is felt, which she uses both for clothes and furniture..." written by Ingrid Sommar.

The CI design for "victoriabeckham".

I just love this photo, this branding and logo design of "victoriabeckham" collection which designed by Sasha Vidakovic (SVIDesign, London). It is elegant, modern, young and fresh look. The balance of the logo length, size, spaces and type are just perfect. And this is what my aim for my design.

minnami's "Seeing London Through The Eyes Of A Designer" book

Seeing London Through The Eyes Of A Designer book is a graphic visual production collated through the minimum of 12 workshops from FdA Design for Graphic Communication 2010/12 Course. The aims of this book are, to explore the city of London that communicates the rich diversity of life and culture and to investigate a range of fundamental design principles and apply them to graphic communication situations.

This is my first year living in London. I might not explore enough to represent London, but I showed what I have seen, heard, smell, taste, touch and feel. In my first sight of London is a cold, dirty, gray and busy city. But as where I am living now, "Canada Water" has changed my view and in love with London. Natural Stave Hill Ecology Park, river side view, Wobbley Boat Pub, boat houses, foxes, birds, swans, ducks, cats ,dogs and beautiful children shows London not only business, but also a lovely city to live in.

My PPD Project - Design Concept Monopoly

“Design Concept Monopoly” Idea

I have one year diploma background in Graphic Design five years ago, but that was a very basic study to build up my computerizing and drawing skill. It couldn’t satisfy with my future plan in Design Industry. So come to London was I finding myself to become an independent thoughtful designer.

In the first term, I did not feel useful for myself but it might be important for other student who is new in the study. However, I really appreciate the opportunity to cooperate with the business in term two. It taught me, how to think independent and do the “useful” research of client, message and target. The most important subject that I have learned is “Analysis”. I pushed myself to look at the personality of the typefaces and colours. I started to pay attention in every spaces and scale. I learned how to use grid to juxtaposition. I understand what beautiful layout is and open myself to do new things and have fun.

I found out to do a design project from zero to a satisfy outcome is like a board game. So I have designed a “Design Concept Monopoly” to present what I have learned from my first year of the FdA. And also to remind myself whenever I do the design in future.
